To provide a method for hardening the surface of a woody material that can be impregnated with resin liquid into 1 mm or more from the surface of the woody material, mass-producible by a comparatively simple apparatus and moreover stable in dimensions after hardening treatment.
The method for hardening the surface of the woody material includes: a preheating process 100 of preheating the woody material 1 to 70°C; a dipping process 200 of dipping one surface of the woody material 1 in thermosetting resin 2 heated to 70°C, for a predetermined time in a normal atmosphere; a cooling process 300 of cooling the woody material 1 dipped in the thermosetting resin 2 to impregnate the thermosetting resin 2 into a depth region of 1 mm from the surface of the woody material 1; a removal process 400 for removing the extra thermosetting resin 2 sticking to the surface of the woody material 1; a surface solidifying process 500 of solidifying the thermosetting resin 2 sticking to the surface of the woody material 1, by an ultraviolet irradiation apparatus; and a hot pressing process 600 of hardening the thermosetting resin 2 impregnated into the woody material 1, by a hot press 4.
