To provide a method for heating a die device including a holding tool for efficiently heating a die at the target heating temperature with excellent precision when forging hard-to-work materials such as titanium alloy and Ni-based alloy.
An outer circumferential part of a die 1 consisting of upper and lower dies 10, 20 is held by die holders 12, 22. Heater plates 11, 21 for heating the die are arranged between the die 1 and die holding means 14a, 24a consisting of heat insulating plates 13, 23 and die plates 14, 24. When heating a forging die device in which the die holders 12, 22, the die holding means 14a, 24a, and the die plates 14, 24 are integrated by a fastening means using tie rods 16a, 26a with coned disk springs 16d, 26d being inserted therein, the preheated die 1 is installed on the heated die holding means 14a, 24a, and then, the die 1 is heated by the heating means, and forming surfaces 10a, 20a of the die are heated to the required temperature immediately before the forging.
