Abstract:
To provide titanium silicalite zeolite suitable for hydroxylation catalyst of aromatic compounds.SOLUTION: There is provided matured TS-1 or TS-2 titanium silicalite zeolite having an apparent mean particle size of from 35 to 75 nm, an outer surface area of from 60 m/g to 150 m/g, and an inter-grain distance of from 10 to 30 nm. The production method comprises: a) preparing a zeolite precursor from a source of silicon, a source of titanium, a structuring agent and a mineralizing agent; b) maturing the zeolite precursor; c) crystallizing the matured precursor; and optionally d) calcining the matured crystalline precursor, wherein the maturing step comprises heating step in a temperature range of 70 to 100°C. For hydroxylation by reacting a compound represented by formula (I) with an oxidizer in the presence of the titanium silicalite zeolite of the invention, in particular hydroxylation of phenol, it is possible to prepare hydroquinone and pyrocatechol with a HQ/PC mole ratio of less than 1.4.SELECTED DRAWING: None
