Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the inactivation of microorganisms or enzymes as much as possible and obtain efficiently an immobilized biocatalyst, by incorporating an aqueous solution or suspension of the biocatalyst in a polyurethane emulsion containing ionic groups under stirring, and removing moisture, etc. to immobilize the biocatalyst.

CONSTITUTION: An aqueous solution or suspension of a biocatalyst is incorporated and stirred with a polyurethane emulsion containing ionic groups to incorporate the biocatalyst in the polyurethane emulsion containing ionic groups, and moisture, etc. is removed to immobilize the biocatalyst to give the aimed immobilized biocatalyst. Preferably, a polyurethane containing cations as the ionic groups is used as the polyurethane emulsion containing the ionic groups. A microorganism, e.g. yeast, or enzyme, e.g. lipase, may be cited as the biocatalyst.
