PURPOSE: To impart excellent infusibility to a meltable molded article, by pretreating the article with an anionic surface active agent, applying an aqueous medium containing a melamine resin, to the article and curing the resin in the presence of water.
CONSTITUTION: A molded article, especially fiber, of a meltable resin such as polyethylene terephthalate, nylon, polyvinylidene chloride, etc., is pretreated with an anionic surface active agent consisting of a sulfuric acid ester-type anionic surfactant such as higher alcohol sulfate, sulfated oil, etc., and/or a sulfonic acid-type anionic surfactant such as alkylbenzenesulfonic acid, alkylsulfonic acid, etc., and then applied with an aqueous liquid containing a melamine resin of the formula (R1W6 are H, CH2OR7, lower alkyl; R7 is lower alkyl), an acid catalyst, and a compound containing a copolymer unit composed of ethylene oxide units and propylene oxide units and/or butylene oxide units. The aqueous liquid is cured in the presence of water.
