Abstract:
To inhibit fouling and the generation of excess acetaldehyde by putting a specified amt. of a specific compd. into a vinyl acetate production apparatus.
This method comprises putting 0.001-5,000ppm compd. selected from among 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl-1-oxyl, a 3-substd. 2,2,5,5- alkylpyrrolidinyl-1-oxyl of which the substituent at the 3-position is H, CN, or a 1-20C linear or branched hydrocarbon group and of which alkyl groups at the 2- and 5-positions may be the same or different, di-t-butylnitroxide, etc., into a vinyl acetate production apparatus. The compd. inhibits the polymn. of a reactive monomer and the generation of excess acetaldehyde in the apparatus.
