Abstract:
PURPOSE:To increase the length at which an optical fiber is inserted into a covering pipe by inserting the optical fiber into a long-sized pipe having the inside diameter larger than the outside diameter of the fiber from one end thereof, then diametrally reducing the pipe and elongating the pipe simultaneously in the axial line direction. CONSTITUTION:The covering pipe having the length of about several times the length of the long-sized pipe 3 of the large diameter into which the optical fiber 1 is inserted can be formed as the covering pipe 4 which covers the optical fiber in a clearanceless state when the above-mentioned pipe 3 is diametrally reduced and stretched by a rolling device 10. Since the optical fiber 1 is successively drawn into the covering pipe 4 at this time, the optical fiber 1 is eventually inserted relatively into the covering pipe 4. The length of the covering pipe 4 which covers the optical fiber 1 is thereby increased to about the length which is substantially of no problem in practicable use.
