To provide an error detection method by precisely examining an overall table to give reliability allowable for computer use to a table having identification symbols.

It has been taken notice that an array of identification symbols (symbols of a type of so-called "the names of things represent their true nature") added from a semantic content shows a table design concept, having certain regularity. It has been discovered that, in a variety of specification tables, a firm relation having an absolute value of a rank correlation coefficient reaching 1 can be found between an identification symbol rank and a function variable indicating the semantic content or a derivative variable calculated from the function variable. There has been devised software for assisting visual inspection, by detecting that the above rank correlation is disordered by an incorrect input, and by supplying a characteristic notation.
