To provide a method of installing an elevator car in a short construction period, without handling a robust stand.
The method includes: a shaft installation step for installing a shaft 5 in a structure 3; a car assembling step for assembling the car 11; a lifting device installation step for installing a lifting device 33 for inserting the car in the shaft at a construction site; and a car installation step for inserting the assembled car in the shaft. The shaft providing step and the car assembling step are performed in parallel. The car assembling step is performed at the construction site. In the car assembling step, a temporary guide rail is arranged on the ground of the construction site and thereafter, the car is assembled depending on the temporary guide rail. In the car installation step, the assembled car is lifted up by the lifting device to be pulled out from the temporary guide rail, after completion of the car assembling step, and is suspended so as to be inserted into the shaft.
