Abstract:
To provide a method for isolating and purifying L-carnitine, by which the isolation and purification can simply and efficiently be carried out in an industrial scale.
This method for isolating and purifying the L-carnitine comprises the processes of: (1) preparing an L-carnitine aqueous solution; (2) crystallizing the L-carnitine from the solution prepared in the process (1); (3) recycling a mother liquid prepared in the process (2) or the L-carnitine contained in the mother liquid to the process (1) and/or the process (2); and recrystallizing the L-carnitine crystals, after the process (2) is finished.
