Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for locating fault points in transmission lines for improving accuracy in locating the fault points.
SOLUTION: Coordinate conversion is performed on parallel-two-line three-phase unbalanced transmission lines by a two-phase theory to determine the ratio IS1/(IS1+IR1), IR1/(IS1+IR1) of divided currents to the sum of currents at both ends of a secondary circuit of the transmission lines at the time of failure. On the basis of the ratio of divided currents of the secondary circuit and the length L of the parallel-two-line three-phase unbalanced transmission lines, the distance KS between a sending end S to a fault point (f) and the distance KR between a receiving end R and the fault point (f) are determined.
