Abstract:

To provide a more advantageous catalyst and a method for making carboxylated cellulosic fibers by examining to satisfy needs for the catalyst and the method.

The carboxylated cellulosic fibers are obtained by a method which comprises reacting an N-halo hindered cyclic amine compound with a secondary oxidizing agent to provide a primary oxidizing agent and making the primary oxidizing agent contact with cellulosic fibers to provide carboxylated cellulosic fibers.
