PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing aluminum alloy material capable of enhancing productivity.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing aluminum alloy ingot (aluminum alloy material) 1 comprises: starting casting in a state that powdered heat insulation materials are attached to both of a surface 210 of a first roll 21 and a surface 220 of a second roll 22, and in a state that the first roll 21 and the second roll 22 are rotated at a rotation speed slower than a steady state; after starting the casting, starting cooling of the first roll 21 when a surface temperature Tat a first farthest position Bof the first roll 21 reaches a temperature of 100°C to 300°C; starting cooling of the second roll 22 when a surface temperature Tat a second farthest position Bof the second roll 22 reaches a temperature of 100°C to 300°C; and controlling cooling of the first roll 21 and the second roll 22 so that the surface temperature Tof the first roll 21 and the surface temperature Tof the second roll 22 do not become lower than 100°C, from the starts of cooling of the first roll 21 and the second roll 22 till the steady states of the first and second roll.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
