Abstract:
To enhance surface quality after bloming and to abate the occurrence of the inside surface flaw of a pipe during pipe making.
This method of manufacturing the billet for the high chromium seamless pipe comprises satisfying the following equation in the relation between the width and thickness of a slab in manufacturing the billet for the high chromium seamless pipe having a Cr concentration of ≥5%: 6×{slab thickness (m)}2≤slab width (m)≤12×{slab thickness (m)}2. Accordingly, the manufacture of the billet for the high chromium seamless pipe which has the surface quality after bloming and abates the occurrence of the inside surface flaw of the pipe during pipe making is made possible.
