A method for manufacturing a coil unit includes the steps of: using as a conductor wire 4 for a coil a conductor wire having a deformable cross section shape and having a diameter φ in a circular cross section being larger than a slot opening width W1 that is a width of a slot opening 22b in a circumferential direction C to insert the conductor wire 4 for a coil having a circumferential line width D of a line width D2 less than the slot opening width W1 into a slot 22 from the slot opening 22b (inserting step #2); and pressing the conductor wire 4 for a coil disposed in the slot 22 in a depth direction opposite to an opening direction to deform the cross section shape of the conductor wire 4 for a coil (pressing step #3).
