To provide a method for manufacturing a color filter that directly forms pixels of RGB, independently of subtraction color mixing and in which the color filter superior in color purity of RGB is manufactured.
In the method for manufacturing the color filter, using a photosensitive recording material successively laminating and applying three layers of diazo heat sensitive recording layers on a transparent substrate, the three layers of the diazo heat sensitive recording layers combine three diazonium salt compounds differing in photosensitive wavelengths and a coupler colored on a different hue by reacting with each diazonium salt compound. The three diazonium salt compounds is irradiated with a light in each corresponding wavelength, and next, these layers are thermally printed on the whole face, and three separate color pixels selected from among red (R), green (G) and blue (B) are formed.
