PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make manufacturable, at a low cost, a filter medium which consists of a filtering material and a polymer and has uniform and high sorption ability.
SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing the filter medium comprises a step to press the mixture of a finely grained meltable polymer and a granular filtering material having sorptive action by applying pressure and heat to the mixture to obtain polymer-boned molded goods. This method is characterized by preparing the mixture of the polymer and the sorptive filtering material by adding a liquid medium whose vaporizing temperature is equal to or lower than the melting point of the polymer, vaporizing/releasing the liquid medium and pressing the liquid medium-released mixture in a compression die for melting the polymer while a gaseous heating medium is circulated in the mixture under such a condition that the temperature of the gaseous heating medium to be supplied to the mixture is kept higher than the vaporizing temperature of the liquid medium.
