Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material for removing harmful chemical substances which is extremely porous, which has high absorptivity of harmful substance, a photocatalyst function to detoxify the adsorbed substances and high transparency, and which can be prepared into a monolith of the photocatalyst and adsorbent in a highly blended state.
SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing a porous gel for the material for removing the harmful chemical substances, a silica wet gel is impregnated with a titanium compound solution and then dried by using a drying medium at the critical point or supercritical state of the drying medium to produce crystalline titania on the silica framework.
