To provide a method of manufacturing a multilayer foam base material having an edge part with excellent design and configured to shorten a manufacturing step.
The method of manufacturing a multilayer foam base material includes evacuating an original base material 10 having a first skin layer 11, a resin foam layer 12, and a second skin layer 13 sequentially from both surfaces, while holding the original layer between a first mold 2 and a second mold 3, to expand the thickness of the resin foam layer. When the first mold and the second mold are mold clamped, a part 10A to be sealed which is to be positioned at the edge part of the multilayer foam base material in the original base material is held between a seal formation part 21 of the first mold and a seal formation part 31 of the second mold, and they are compressed to form a seal part. In the mold clamping, the edge of the part 10A to be sealed in the original base material is cut by a cutting blade 4 projected from the first mold toward the second mold, and trimmed as well.
