To develop a method for manufacturing an optical film with a remarkable thinness suited for forming a liquid crystal display device which is thin, lightweight and bright in image display for comfortable viewing by efficiently changing the light path of an incident light from the side of a liquid crystal display panel in a visually recognizable direction.
This method for manufacturing an optical film manufactures an optical film which has a plurality of recessed parts (51) of a triangle cross section obtained by emitting a laser beam (1) through a projection mask (2) with a formed laser beam permeable part (21) of a specified shape and partially removing a forming material of a polymer film (5) by etching. Further, the method for manufacturing an optical film manufactures an optical film by forming a mold by electrocasting, using the above-described optical film as a matrix and using the mold. Also a liquid crystal with an optical film arranged at least on one of the sides of a liquid crystal cell is provided. Consequently, an optical film having a light projection means comprising precisely positioned recessed parts of a microstructure having both end parts engraved at an acute angle, is obtained.
