Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing an organic EL display device, which can prevent the occurrence of foreign bodies such as debris at the time of removal of an organic compound layer and has a high yield at good luminous efficiency.

In the method for manufacturing the organic EL display device formed of a substrate 1 and pixels 11 arranged on the substrate 1, the pixels 11 are composed of a plurality of sub-pixels 12, 13, and 14, and each sub-pixel has at least: a lower electrode 2; a first intermediate electrode layer 4; an upper electrode 8; and either a first organic compound layer 3 arranged between the lower electrode 2 and the first intermediate electrode layer 4, or a second organic compound layer 5 arranged between the first intermediate electrode layer 4 and the upper electrode 8. The method for manufacturing the organic EL display device comprises a step A of forming the lower electrode, a step B of forming the first organic compound layer, a step C of partially removing the first organic compound layer per a sub-pixel unit by using a laser beam, a step D of forming the first intermediate electrode layer, and a step E of forming the second organic compound layer.
