Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing plumage wadding mixed with hygroscopic and exothermic short fibers which allows the uniform mixing of the hygroscopic and exothermic short fibers and plumage without using a special apparatus, and which hardly causes the deterioration of the effectiveness of the hygroscopic and exothermic short fibers due to the mixing.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing plumage wadding mixed with hygroscopic and exothermic short fibers includes the steps of: mixing plumage subjected to cleaning treatment and the hygroscopic and exothermic short fibers containing metal salt type carboxyl groups in an amount of 4.0-10.0 meq/g in treatment water; and dewatering/drying the plumage wadding mixed with the hygroscopic and exothermic short fibers obtained by the mixing. The treatment water used in the mixing has a hardness of 10 mg or less per liter in accordance with American standards for measuring the hardness of water (in terms of CaCO) and is particularly ion-exchanged water.
