To provide a method of manufacturing steel wires, by which the steel wires having uniform quality are obtained by suppressing variation of the amount of reforming in the steel wire with helical reforming applied thereto.

In the method of manufacturing the steel wire, after applying the helical reforming to the steel wire, the wire with the helical reforming applied thereto is passed through a cylindrical hole which satisfies the following formulae (1) and (2): b2>d2+π2(c2-a2+(2a-2c)e)...(1), and a<c...(2). In the formula, a is the inside diameter (mm) of the cylindrical hole, b is the length (mm) of the cylindrical hole, c is the amount (mm) of the reforming of the steel wire, d is the pitch (mm) of the reforming of the steel wire, and e is the wire diameter (mm) of the steel wire.
