A method for manufacturing a tanker includes a first step of preparing hull blocks A, B constituting the tanker, a second step of forming a protective film Tf1 by coating a protective paint on a wall surface constituting a cargo tank T out of the wall surface of the hull block A, a third step of forming the protective film Tf1 by coating the protective paint on a wall surface constituting the cargo tank T out of the wall surface of the hull block B, a fourth step of joining an end of the hull block A with an end of the hull block B by welding, and a fifth step of forming a protective film Tf2 by coating the protective paint on the protective film Tf1 to be respectively overlapped along each end of the hull blocks A, B joined with each other in the fourth step. In the fifth step, before forming the protective film Tf2, a part of the protective film Tf1 which is overlapped on the protective film Tf2 is subjected to the surface roughening.
