Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method, and a reagent, for measuring iron in blood serum in which no offensive component is required to use, and interference by the blood serum having immunoglobulin of high content and the high fat blood serum can be avoided, and a reagent.
CONSTITUTION: A protein modifying agent is added, liberated iron is reduced into Fe2+, a coloring reagent solution is added, and the luminous intensity of a produced coloring complex is measured so that the iron in blood serum is measured by liberating the combined iron. In the method the modifying agent containing urea or a urea derivative, and aliphatic alcohol polyglycol ether are added into the blood serum.
