Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent failure of an optical fiber and coating pipe made of a shape memory alloy at the time of drawing the optical fiber by forming said coating pipe along the optical fiber to form a temp. measuring nozzle having the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:The temp. measuring nozzle 10 having the optical fiber 5 for temp. measuring facing a molten metal is provided on the bottom part of a converter vessel. The optical fiber 5 in the temp. measuring nozzle 10 is drawn to the outside according to the erosion rate at the tip thereof so that the photodetecting end position of the optical fiber 5 is changed toward the outside. The coating pipe made of the shape memory alloy is integrally provided around the optical fiber 5. The coating pipe is deformed according to a change in the temp. difference of the temp. measuring nozzle on the side of the inside surface and the side of the outside surface of the vessel so that the coating pipe has the shape conforming to the outside diameter of a take-up drum 16. The deformation of the optical fiber and the coating pipe by the excess force applied thereto is, therefore, prevented at the time of drawing out the optical fiber 5 and the coating gas.
