Abstract:

To provide at least one double-stranded oligoribonucleotide (dsRNA) designed to inhibit the expression of a target gene.

One strand of the dsRNA is at least in part complementary to the target gene. The target gene can be selected from the following group: cancer cells, cytokine genes, Id protein genes, developmental genes, and prion genes. The target gene can express in pathogenic organisms (especially Plasmodium). The target gene can preferably also be a part of a virus or viroid which is pathogenic to human.
