Abstract:
To provide a technology that can suppress the concentration of sulfur dioxide, which is contained in combustion exhaust gas and acts as a catalyst poison for a methanation catalyst, during methanation where carbon dioxide contained in the combustion exhaust gas is separated and reacts with hydrogen to obtain methane.SOLUTION: A methanation method includes at least the following steps of a) contacting combustion exhaust gas 101 with a carbon dioxide absorbent to absorb carbon dioxide in the combustion exhaust gas 101, b) heating the carbon dioxide absorbent having absorbed the carbon dioxide to take out gas 201 mainly composed of carbon dioxide; c) passing gas 205 obtained by adding a first amount of hydrogen 203 to the gas 201 mainly composed of carbon dioxide through a desulfurizer 23 filled with a desulfurizing agent to remove sulfur compounds in the gas 205, and d) adding a second amount of hydrogen 204 to the gas 206 having undergone the step of removing the sulfur compounds, and converting them to methane by a methanation reaction through a methanation catalyst.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
