Abstract:
PURPOSE: To modify the surface of a molded resin article easily and uniformly without using an org. solvent to thereby enable the formation of a tough coating layer on the surface.
CONSTITUTION: A surface-modifying apparatus 1 comprises a container 2 having an inlet 4 and an outlet 5 and an ozone generator 3. Ozone generated at the generator 3 is sent through a hose 6 and released in water as bubbles, part of which dissolve in ultrapure water. An aq. soln. of ozone in the container 2 is kept constant. When a polypropylene test piece is dipped in the soln., the surface of the piece is cleaned and oxidized. In the dipping, the entire surface of the piece is surely brought into contact with the soln. regardless of the shape of the piece.
