PURPOSE: To improve the positioning accuracy and shorten the positioning time in the positioning of a pushing ram in the case of automatically stopping a coke oven pusher at a definite position.

CONSTITUTION: This pushing ram positioning apparatus is provided with a pushing ram position detection mechanism 11 placed together with a target oven core detection mechanism 9 on a pusher 5 of a pusher deck 27, a mechanism 10 for the fine adjustment of the pushing ram to finely move the pushing ram 6 to the oven core position and a main controller 12 for control both mechanisms. The fine adjustment mechanism 10 for the pushing ram is attached to two parts, i.e., the front and the back of the pushing ram driving apparatus 8 and is composed of hydraulic cylinders 14 to guide the forward and backward motion of the pushing ram 6, finely move the ram in the moving direction of the pusher and correct the position of the pushing ram 6 to the oven core position and a valve stand 13 for driving the hydraulic cylinder 14. The mechanism is controlled by the main controller 12 which receives an output signal of the pushing ram position detection mechanism 11 indicating the deviation of the center of the pushing ram 6 from the oven core and determines the fine adjustment amount of the hydraulic cylinder.
