To provide a new insoluble ligand having high stability and capable of easy preparation and a method for hydroformylation using the same.

The preparation of an aldehyde comprises binding a trivalent phosphorus to a polymer having a hydroxy group, supporting a transition metal to the resulting polymer to make a catalyst, and reacting an olefinic unsaturated compound with hydrogen and carbon monooxide in the presence of the catalyst.
