PURPOSE: To prevent disengagement of yarn end from yarn winding machine and thus to prevent double binding of yarn, by applying suction air to the winding package by means of suction mouth, at the time when breakage of yarn is caused, until turning of the winding package is completely stopped.

CONSTITUTION: Yarn Y reeled out from yarn feeding bobbin 2 is passed through balloon breaker 3, yarn-breakage feeler 5, Worcester 6, etc. and wound around winding package 8. When the feeler 5 detects breakage of yarn, micro switch 10 is actuated to turn suction mouth 11 from its ordinally winding position 11 to yarn- end attracting position 11a by means of clutch or the like. At the position 11a, suction air from suction mouth 11 is acted to the package 8, until its motion is completely stopped. Therefore, if winding package 8 is turned reversely after it is stopped completely, a single yarn is caught at its end by suction mouth 11a.
