Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing output signal of acceleration sensor by which the acceleration of an automobile can be detected without receiving much influence from the inclination and temperature drift of the automobile nor using any large-capacity memory.
SOLUTION: The covariance of the output signals of an acceleration sensor 10 which detects the acceleration of an automobile in the direction of progress of the automobile and an angular velocity sensor which detects the inclination of the automobile in the forward-backward direction is found by using a recurrence formula. When the covariance is equal to or smaller than a threshold, the output signal of the sensor 10 is set as the reference voltage when the acceleration is zero. The output signal of the sensor 10 is corrected by subtracting the reference voltage from the output signal of the sensor 10 after the reference voltage is set. When the covariance again becomes equal to or smaller than the threshold thereafter, a new reference voltage is set.
