Abstract:

To provide such a method for producing 1-hexene from ethylene as reduces the amount of by-product polymers.

This method for producing 1-hexene includes a step 1 of preparing a catalytic component by bringing a transition metal complex typically expressed by formula (1-3) into contact with an organoaluminum compound; and a step 2 of trimerizing ethylene in the presence of a catalyst that is obtained by additionally bringing the catalytic component into contact with a boron compound. (In the formula, R1 through R4 are each a methyl group; R5 through R21 are each hydrogen or a methyl group; X1 through X3 are each chlorine or a methyl group; J is silicon; and M is titanium).
