Abstract:

To produce 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and/or 1,1,3,3,3- pentafluoropropene in high yield.

1,1,1,3,3-Pentafluoropropane and/or 1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene are produced from 2-chloro-1,1,3,3,3-pentafluoropropene by hydrogenating the starting compound especially at 30-450°C in the presence of a catalyst composed of at least one element selected from palladium, platinum and rhodium.
