To provide a method for producing 2-methylene-1,3-propanediol in high yield.SOLUTION: A method for producing 2-methylene-1,3-propanediol includes the step for reacting a compound represented by the formula (1) with a base. In the following formula (1), R1, R2 and R3 independently represent a hydrogen atom or a C2-19 acyl group, excluding the case where all of R1, R2 and R3 are hydrogen atoms.
