Abstract:
To provide a method for simply and efficiently producing a 4- hydroxy-2-alkoxy-6-trifluoromethylpyrimidine when the compound is industrially produced.
This method for producing a 4-hydroxy-2-alkoxy-6- trifluoromethylpyrimidine represented by a formula (1) [wherein R is a lower hydrocarbon group] is characterized by reacting an alkoxyisourea hydrochloride with ethyl trifluoroacetoacetate in an alcohol solvent in the presence of at least one kind of base selected from carbonate and bicarbonate of alkali metals.
