To provide a production method by which bromomethyl cycloalkanes can be easily obtained in an industrial scale.
A method for producing bromomethyl cycloalkanes comprises brominating cycloalkyl methanols by use of hydrogen bromide, wherein the reaction is carried out in the presence of an ionic liquid.
