Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing carboxylic acid or a salt thereof under a moderate condition and in a simple, highly-selective, high-yielding manner. Provided is a method for manufacturing a compound represented by general formula (2) or a salt thereof, characterized in that a reaction product of iodine and an alkaline-metal tertiary alkoxide is reacted with a compound represented by general formula (1) [in general formula (1), R represents a hydrocarbon group that may include a substituent and/or a hetero atom, and A represents -C(=O)- or -C(H)(OH)-; and, in general formula (2), R represents the same component as does R in general formula (1)].
