To provide a method of production capable of producing resin particles comprising a cyclic olefin-based resin which has excellent heat-resistance and transparency, and which can suitably be used as a light diffusing agent, a powder coating, a material for a toner, an ink, a spacer (for example, for a liquid crystal display), a filler, an antiblocking agent, a lubricant component, powder for a three-dimensional object molding and the like, with good productivity.

The method for producing cyclic olefin-based resin particles comprises a step 1 of dissolving the cyclic olefin-based resin in an organic solvent, a step 2 of emulsifying the solution A obtained in the step 1 in a solution B containing 0-20% by mass of a surfactant, and a step 3 of recovering and drying the cyclic olefin-based resin particles dispersed into the emulsion obtained in the step 2.
