To provide a method for efficiently producing 3-amino-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid cyclopropylamide, suitable for industrial production, to provide an intermediate compound useful for the production method, and to provide a method for producing the intermediate compound.
This method for producing the 3-amino-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid cyclopropylamide includes reacting 3-propyloxiranecarboxylic acid cyclopropylamide with a metal azide to obtain 3-amino-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid cyclopropylamide, and then reducing the compound to obtain the 3-amino-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid cyclopropylamide. The 3-propyloxiranecarboxylic acid cyclopropylamide can be produced by reacting 3-propyloxiranecarboxylic acid with cyclopropylamine. An optically active 3-amino-2-hydroxyhexanoic acid cyclopropylamide can be produced using, as a starting material, optically active (2S, 3R)-3-propyloxiranecarboxylic acid which can be produced by a diastereomer method.
