To provide a method for producing deinked pulp under a weakly alkaline condition, which is capable of producing a deinked pulp while reducing the amount of unreleased ink and adhesive foreign material at the same time by using only a small amount of an alkaline chemical in the deinked pulp production step.
Hydrogen peroxide and a metal complex catalyst capable of activating hydrogen peroxide are added to waste paper or waste paper pulp in the deinked pulp production step and the following step 1 and step 2 are carried out in the order. (Step 1) A step to defibrate waste paper or waste paper pulp at a pH range of 8.5 to 10, and (Step 2) a step to treat the pulp obtained in the step 1 with a screen apparatus to remove the adhesive foreign materials.
