Abstract:

To provide a method for efficiently producing a dialkyl carbonate from CO, O2 and an alcohol.

When producing the dialkyl carbonate by using the carbon monoxide, the oxygen and the alcohol as starting materials, a catalyst comprising (i) a cupric halide and (ii-1) an alkoxide compound of group III to VIII metal in the periodic table, or a catalyst comprising (i) the cupric halide, (ii-2) a halide of group III to VIII metal in the periodic table and (ii-3) at least one compound selected from an alkali metal alkoxide, an alkaline earth metal alkoxide, a quaternary ammonium alkoxide represented by formula (1) : R1R2 R3R4NOR5 (1) and a quaternary phosphonium alkoxide.
