Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a honeycomb structure, the number of whose production steps can be reduced.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure is constituted so that a part of a plurality of through-holes, the end face of each of which is opened and the adjacent ones of which are divided from each other by a partition wall, is sealed. The method for producing the honeycomb structure comprises the steps of: inserting a sealing tool 400, which is vibrated at 1 kHz or lower frequency, into a part of a plurality of hexagonal cells 70h of a green honeycomb molding 70 formed on the end face of a columnar body by opening the plurality of hexagonal cells 70h divided by partition walls 70W; and press-fixing the adjacent partition walls 70W to each other to seal the hexagonal cell 70h. Since the sealing tool is vibrated at 1 kHz or lower frequency, the hexagonal cell 70h can be sealed extremely easily.
