Abstract:
To provide a method for producing an efficient and economical highly pure ionic vinyl monomer.
The method for synthesizing the ionic vinyl monomer represented by formula (1) (wherein, R1 is H or methyl; R2 and R3 are each independently identically or differently 1 to 3C alkyl; R4 is 1 to 3C alkyl, 1 to 3C alkenyl or benzyl; Y is O or -NH-; Z is 1 to 3C alkylene) is characterized by subjecting a quaternary cationic vinyl monomer and a thiocyanate to an ion exchange reaction in an organic solvent having a solubility parameter of 8 to 16 (cal/cm3)0.5, precipitating and separating byproducts, and then subjecting the material to a thin film evaporation treatment to recover the organic solvent.
