Abstract:

To provide a method for producing a secondary or tertiary monoamine by using a primary or secondary raw material monoamine as a substrate, and reacting the raw material monoamine with a monoalcohol.

The method for producing the secondary or tertiary monoamine includes carrying out the reaction of the primary or secondary raw material monoamine with the monoalcohol respectively in the presence of a three-valent iron compound (ferric (III) bromide or the like), and a carboxylic acid (pyroglutamic acid or the like) containing a nitrogen atom, or an ester thereof. At the reaction, a dissociation agent such as 1,2,3,4,5-pentamethylcyclopentadiene is allowed to exist besides them.
