To provide an improved process that can prevent the compressor from being blocked or damaged in the process method for producing (meth) acrolein or (meth)acrylic acid by feeding the feedstock for (meth)acrolein and (meth)acrylic acid and the molecular oxygen-containing gas that is mixed with a dilution gas and compressed, into an oxidation reactor to carry out a catalytic vapor-phase oxidation reaction, feeding the resultant reaction mixture gas to an absorption column to contact with water, recovering an aqueous solution of (meth)acrolein or (meth)acrylic acid and using a part or the whole of exhausted gas recovered from the top of the absorption column as the dilution gas.
The mixed gas is kept higher than its dew point at the inlet to the compressor.
