Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a catalyst carrier which is advantageous, for example, in that it can dispense with treatment with an internal donor when used in the preparation of an olefin polymerization catalyst and does not need a large amount of a halogenating reagent and a polar solvent very deleterious to the catalyst performance in the preparation of a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: This carrier is prepared by reacting an electron donor of the formula with metallic magnesium and an alkyl halide under conditions that the metallic magnesium is activated. In the formula, R, R1 and R2, which are the same or different from each other, are each linear or branched 1-18 C alkyl, an alicyclic group or aryl, provided that R1 or R2 may be hydrogen.
