Abstract:

To provide a method for producing oxygen-containing compounds, namely alcohols, diols and ketones by oxidizing alkanes or alcohols thereof, causing no corrosion of the apparatus in no need of separation and removal of catalyst with industrial advantage.

When alkanes are oxidized to produce alcohols, diols, polyols or ketones, a catalyst including at least one of element selected from transition metal elements in the group 5 and the groups 8 to 10 is used as a catalyst to produce oxygen containing compounds. When alcohols are oxidized to produce diols and polyols, a catalyst including at least one of element selected from transition metal elements in the group 5 and the groups 8 to 10 is used as a catalyst to produce oxygen containing compounds.
