Abstract:
To provide a method for obtaining poly(arylene ether) solid having consistent particle size by controlling precipitation when precipitating and isolating poly(arylene ether) by mixing a solution, in which a poly(arylene ether) product obtained by oxidative polymerization of monohydric phenol in the presence of a solvent, with a poor solvent.
The poly(arylene ether) solution is mixed with the poor solvent at a shear rate greater than 50,000 s-1. The shear rate is preferably 60,000 to 500,000 s-1.
